World Time Format is a Universal Time and Date, the Julian Day expressed with 26 letters A-Z
Let’s use TUM:BLR as an example:
TUM: marks a date, specifically 5/27/2013. We are currently in the Alphabetic Year T, which started with TAA: on Dec 12 2011. The next day, Dec 13, 2011, was TAB:
Actually, the full World Time Format date is FJTUM: but we can leave off the “FJ” because it won’t turn over from FJZZZ to FKAAA until Mon Nov 25, 2024, so we can safely assume the “FJ” and just say “TUM:” Or leave off more letters if they match the current date, and just state the time, :BLR
:BLR is the time. The day started at :A which is 12 Noon GMT and it is divided into 26 Alphabetic hours, so :B is about 12:55, and :BLR is 1:20:12 GMT, which would be different in different time zones and times of the year. For example, Boston is GMT -4 during the Summer but GMT-5 during Daylight Savings Time.
Use the WTFClock iPhone app or the wtfclock.com website to convert :WTF to your local time zone.
We are living on World Time Format now, we shouldn’t have to be divided into 24 time zones. I will try to see if tumblr can display the timestamps for posts in :WTF somehow.
Let’s use :WTF for world events and local time for local events. That way Detroit and Boston don’t have to pretend to have the Sun overhead at the same time any more, they can each have true clocks, so 12 Noon is when the Sun is overhead. And :WTF would be the same everywhere in the world, and the Moon, for scheduling meetings or announcements.
